This Privacy Policy explains how DataScienceWay (“we”, “us”, “our”), available at datascienceway.com, collects, uses and protects personal data when you visit the website. We are committed to complying with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. Who we are
The data controller for this website is Lucky Joseph, operating DataScienceWay from the United Kingdom. Contact: [email protected].
2. What data we collect
- Usage data: pages viewed, referring site, approximate location (derived from IP address), device and browser type, collected through cookies and similar technologies where you have consented.
- Information you send us: your name, email address and message if you contact us or leave a comment.
- Comments: if you comment, we store the comment, your name, email address, IP address and browser user-agent to help with spam detection.
- Server logs: our hosting provider automatically records technical data such as IP addresses for security and reliability.
We do not knowingly collect special category data, and the site is not directed at children under 13.
3. How and why we use your data (lawful bases)
- To run and secure the website (server logs, essential cookies) – legitimate interests.
- To reply to messages and manage comments – legitimate interests.
- Analytics to understand which content is useful – consent.
- Advertising through Google AdSense, including personalised ads – consent. Where you decline, Google may still serve non-personalised or limited ads, which use cookies for purposes such as frequency capping and fraud prevention where permitted.
4. Advertising – Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or www.youronlinechoices.eu.
For more on how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
5. Consent management
Visitors from the UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland are shown a consent message powered by a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (Google’s own CMP, integrated with the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework). No non-essential cookies for analytics or advertising are set until you make a choice. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the “Privacy and cookie settings” link in the site footer.
6. Analytics
With your consent, we may use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, time on page and approximate location. IP addresses are not stored by GA4. You can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
7. Cookies
For a full list of cookie categories, see our Cookie Policy.
8. Sharing your data
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers needed to operate the site: our web host; Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the site and processes technical data such as IP addresses to do so; Google (AdSense and, where used, Analytics); our consent management tool (CookieAdmin); and spam-protection services for comments. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or adequacy regulations.
Fonts, images and the code-highlighting on this site are served from our own domain. We do not load Google Fonts or other third-party font or script libraries, so simply reading a tutorial does not send your IP address to a font or code-library provider.
9. How long we keep data
- Emails: up to 24 months after the last correspondence.
- Comments: for as long as the comment is published.
- Analytics data: 14 months (GA4 retention setting).
- Cookies: see the Cookie Policy for individual durations.
10. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, the right to data portability and the right to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any right, email us. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
11. Third-party links
Our tutorials link to external websites and documentation. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when we add new services. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed.
